The Norwegian Business and Industry Security Council

The Norwegian Business and Industry Security Council (NSR) is a member organization that works to strengthen security and emergency preparedness across Norwegian business and industry through professional networks, situational updates, guidance, and operative services.

NSR offers a broad range of services within security and emergency preparedness – from encrypted communication platforms and notification systems to analysis tools and professional networks. NSR organises closed events, seminars, exercises, and situational briefings, and conducts regular classified and unclassified situational updates in cooperation with government authorities including the Norwegian Police Security Service (PST), the Norwegian National Security Authority (NSM), the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB), the Norwegian Police Directorate, the Norwegian Armed Forces, and the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries.

Cybersecurity Centre for Norwegian Business

On 7 August 2025, the Norwegian Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries designated NSR as cybersecurity centre (SRM) for most of the Norwegian business community. As part of this mandate, NSR has the authority to notify companies affected by digital security incidents. This notification service is funded by the Ministry and is available free of charge to all Norwegian businesses.
